Fascia is a specialized system of the body that plays an important role in the way our body functions. Healthy fascia stretches and moves without restriction. But fascia that develops restrictions is one of the leading causes of pain. Because you cannot see fascial restriction on X-rays, MRI’s or other diagnostic tests, causes for this type of pain is often difficult to diagnose, and even harder to treat.

Physical trauma, emotional trauma, inflammation, surgery, illness or even habitual poor posture and repetitive stress injuries can cause tightening and twisting in the fascial structure. Because fascia connects everything in the body it can become a source of tension to the rest of the body when fascia becomes restricted. It can cause unexplained pain and dysfunction in many different parts of the body. Fascial restrictions can affect our flexibility and stability, and affect our ability to withstand stress and perform daily activities. Myofascial release therapy restores health to the fascia.

The typical medical approach is to treat the symptoms of pain and restrictions, but does little to address the pressure that is often causing the pain. Traditional physical  and occupational therapy spend much of their time stretching and strengthening the areas of pain and restriction, but often don’t address the underlying condition. Massage therapy treats the symptoms using hands-on manipulation, but does little to address the cause of the pressure that perpetuates the symptoms. This is why so many patients only have temporary results, never seeming to get better with traditional therapy. Only Myofascial Release Therapy eliminates the source of the challenge - the pressure caused by the restricted Myofascial system.

At Trimotion Therapy we see women and children with all sorts of challenges. Chronic pain, women’s health issues, pregnancy and postpartum, migraine headaches, neurologic challenges, orthopedic challenges, pre- and post-surgical patients, cancer challenges, stress, aging and structural and postural challenges.

Our therapy starts with getting to know you and your body. We listen - with our eyes, our ears, and our hands. Based on what we see in your body, and what we hear from you, we design an individualized plan that addresses not only the symptoms you are experiencing, but also what contributes to the symptoms and pain. We work to develop strategies and resources for you so that you may address as much of your challenge as you choose.

We often use Myofasical Release Therapy (MFR), which is a light touch therapy that can have profound effects on your body. Light pressure and the warmth of the therapist’s hands in the right place at the right time, for the right amount of time, encourages the body’s fascia to soften, and to release the kinks and twists that cause pain. Most patients describe it as an hour of a delightfully zen experience that results in less pain and more function. Over time, your body releases more and more and since your whole body is connected, the more that is released, the better you feel.

At Trimotion Therapy we go far beyond our expert myofascial release therapy treatments. Once the myofascial restrictions are released, the fascia and body have a chance to return to normal. But the changes in posture and movement patterns that come with chronic pain and restriction changes the way our body works. Those abnormal patterns that once supported you in pain need to be addressed and re-trained for lasting healing. At Trimotion Therapy we look at every aspect of your body, from how you breath, to your movement patterns and posture, to the physical and daily stresses that you encounter.  We also look at life style and life stage factors that may impact your body’s ability to heal. We work with you to design a complete program for your body and life, so that you can do more of what you want to, and need to do, helping you to live a more enjoyable and fulfilling life.

We are committed to working with you to help prevent pain and dysfunction now - and in the future, continuing to enhance the quality of your body and your life. Understanding that life style changes and aging impact how your body functions, we help teach ways that allow you to care for your body as your life changes. We believe in proactively addressing challenges within a healthy life, before managing them becomes a necessity.
