Myofascial Release
Fascia is a three-dimensional web of tough, connective tissue that extends from head to toe without interruption and surrounds every cell of our body. Its main purpose is to cushion, support and protect our body from everyday stresses. Normally the fascial system is loose and moves freely to help the body absorb shock from our daily activities but through improper posture, trauma, inflammation or structural imbalances, the fascia can tighten down. This tightening can cause pain, decreased range of motion or flexibilty and abnormal thickening of the muscles.
Myofascial Release (MFR) is an integral part of most patient’s physical therapy at Tri-Motion Rehab LLC. This is a specialized hands-on technique that involves gentle, sustained pressure and movement where a restriction is felt. This type of therapy has been effective in improving pain levels, improving posture, increasing range of motion, flexibility and strength and restoring balance to the body’s systems.
